Allyson Felix
Allyson Michelle Felix was born in Los Angeles on November 18 1985. Paul Felix, her father, was an ordained pastor in the Master's Seminary Sun Valley. Marlean Felix worked at Balboa Magnet Elementary School. Felix's aptitude for sports was evident right from the first day she started attending Los Angeles Baptist High School. Only 10 weeks after her initial tryout, she placed third in the 200-meter race at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix signed a contract for a professional career with Adidas in 2003, and later enrolled in University of Southern California to study elementary education. A year later Felix achieved her first Olympic medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens Greece breaking an unofficial junior world record taking 200 metres with a time of 22.18 seconds. She was the youngest ever world winner in the 200m at the Helsinki World Championships and defended her title in 2007, defeating her time-tested Jamaican rival Veronica Campbell. Felix had a steady performance in Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. She consistently placed among the top three in all events.
